Let’s work together
I've included some information below about my practice and how to take the next steps. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and let me know!
How do I know if this is a good fit for me?
Generally speaking, my clients have been in therapy before and for whatever reason they weren't able to get their needs met. They're curious and enthusiastic about the work that we're doing, and are willing to wrestle with uncomfortable truths. They also are usually aligned with feminist and queer-affirming principles, and many are neurodivergent. My clients are individuals, couples, and more-than-two relationships! This isn't to say that I haven't had clients outside of this description have good experiences - that certainly happens too! So if you don't fit this description but still feel it might be a good fit, definitely don't let this deter you. But hopefully it helps to get an idea of who I generally work with.
Do you offer in-person or online therapy sessions?
I do both! I generally prefer in-person, but I am happy to do online sessions if that's not accessible. My office is located at 675 Pulaski St Suite 1400 Athens, GA 30601. Online sessions are conducted through my HIPAA-compliant client portal.
Do you take insurance?
I am not in-network with any insurance, and I don't file claims to your insurance company. I know this is an inconvenience, and there are big long explanations about why it doesn't work for my practice that I won't bore you with. What I can do is provide a superbill upon request, which you can submit to your insurance company. Some clients have success with this, others don't, it just depends on your particular insurance plan. You can always call them and ask about their superbill process for out-of-network providers.
What are your rates?
Intake sessions are $249, which includes a 50 minute session and additional administrative time to get you set up in the system and develop a treatment plan. Regular 50 minute sessions are $200, and 80 minute extended sessions are $325.
Do you offer sliding scale?
I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. If therapy would be inaccessible without a reduced fee, let me know and we can discuss this option.
How often would we have appointments?
This is somewhat up to you. I strongly encourage clients to start out weekly if they can, and then move to every other week after a month or two. Most people are best served by meeting every other week, but if you'd like to keep it at every week we can do that too.
If weekly isn't an option due to scheduling or finances, we can start with every other week. It just makes that initial get-to-know-you process drag a bit so it takes a bit longer to really get into the heart of what we're working on. But that is better than doing nothing, so it's definitely an option!
What are some other affordable options?
I strongly believe that the best healing happens in community, which is why I offer groups, classes, workshops, events, etc. These options are also more affordable in order to increase accessibility when my sliding scale spots are full. Instagram really is the best way to stay on top of these offerings, though I am trying to get better at an email newsletter! You can find information about those here: https://linktr.ee/shamelesssexuality
Additionally, there are some wonderful therapists in Athens. Other therapists here at Revolution have different rates and insurance policies, and you can read about them here! Additionally, Getting Real Counseling Center is always my top recommendation outside of Revolution.
What's the next step?
Now that you've gotten a lot of information about me and my practice, it's time for me to get some information about you to see if we're a good fit! In order to do that, I'll have you fill out some forms. To get set up in the portal to do that, here's what I need from you:
